In this short talk, I run over the concept of willpower.
Willpower is often listed as the defining trait that leads to success in any endeavor (even above IQ and talent), but what is strange about willpower is that it is almost against our nature.
Animals act in unison with their impulses (their emotions) but human willpower is the ability to completely override an impulse and disobey it.
I talk about this notion, bringing in how “spiritual” figures like Buddha or Shiva are in many ways students of willpower.
I also discuss if willpower is built through actions like meditation or is simply created when one has a certain mindset.
